ITALIAN ELEGANCE + VULNERABILITY + INDIVIDUALITY + TIMELESS QUALITY + ANTI-CONFORMIST CLASSIC = M A T T E O B I G L I A R D I
Anti fast-fashion menswear.
Matteo Bigliardi is a luxury label for the gentle and vulnerable men. A mix of elegant tailoring, exquisite fabrics and impeccable details. Entirely made in Italy, the collections are an expression of flair and individual style. The classic are reinterpreted to bend the rules of conservative menswear and challenging the masculine status quo by infusing sensitivity and sensuality. Signature pieces are the tailored tunic and the outerwear.
The label prioritizes sustainability and transparency. All of our garments are made ethically under good labour standards, supporting local manufacturing and limiting carbon emissions from travel. To reduce waste and preserve resources, we use deadstock fabrics and natural noble fibres from mills in Yorkshire and Italy. We will continue to look for ways to lessen our impact and implement solutions.
The designer graduated from the BA and MA in menswear at Central Saint Martins under the legendary tutorship of the late Prof. Louise Wilson OBE. His background varies from fashion, to cinema, to architecture: from presenting a collection under his own name at London Fashion Week 2010, thanks to Lulu Kennedy and Fashion East MAN, to curating a special project for the late Zaha Hadid, to assisting the costume designer Arianne Phillips on the movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service” and working as a menswear designer at Gianfranco Ferré in Milan, Pringle of Scotland and Tom Ford.
The label was launched at London Fashion Week Men’s in June 2018. For AW19, the technical committee at Pitti Immagine selects Matteo Bigliardi to be part of its 95th edition of Pitti Uomo, in the Unconventional area, as a representative project for both luxury streetstyle and avant-garde tailoring.
